TEHRAN -- Iran has approved no draft for a preliminary memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States on ending the war, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Thursday, citing an informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team.
Minutes later, Fars added on social media platform X that as the United States has accepted Iran's proposed text, "the likelihood of the agreement being approved by Tehran's highest decision-making authorities is relatively high." (Iran-US-MoU)

BEIRUT -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Thursday that peace with Israel hinges on meeting key Lebanese demands, including an Israeli withdrawal.
"We are seeking an end to the state of hostility with Israel through the following steps: an Israeli withdrawal, a halt to attacks, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the return of displaced persons and detainees," Aoun said, according to the National News Agency. (Lebanon-Israel-Peace deal)

KHARTOUM -- At least 23 civilians were killed and 19 others wounded in drone attacks targeting the city of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State in western Sudan, local sources said Thursday.
"Drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces carried out a series of attacks on the city, resulting in an initial death toll of 23 people and injuries to 19 others, with the number of casualties expected to rise," local volunteer group Sudanese Emergency Lawyers said in a statement Thursday. TEHRAN -- Iran's main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, announced early Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships, due to security threats in the waterway.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the headquarters cited ongoing U.S. "malicious acts" and attacks earlier in the day on areas in Iran's southern Hormozgan province, warning that any vessel attempting to transit the strait will be targeted. (Iran-Hormuz Strait-Full Closure) Enditem
