MANILA -- At least 55 people were killed, 38 missing and 1,120 injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the southern coast of Mindanao, the Philippines, on Monday, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday.

BANGKOK -- Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn, passed away on Thursday at age 47 after more than three years of hospitalization, the Bureau of the Royal Household announced on Friday.

In a statement, the bureau said the princess passed away at 7:48 p.m. local time at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok, where she had been receiving treatment since December 2022. (Thailand-Princess-Death)

JAKARTA -- Three active volcanoes in eastern Indonesia erupted on Friday morning, sending ash columns up to 500 meters into the air, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said.
