KABUL, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan has freed 763 Afghan inmates from its prisons over the past week, while 3,700 Afghan refugees returned home from the country in a single day, Afghan officials said on Saturday.
The freed prisoners, who were held on various charges, crossed into Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing in southern Kandahar province and the Torkham crossing in eastern Nangarhar province, according to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
An estimated six million Afghans remain abroad, the vast majority in neighboring Pakistan and Iran. Both countries have intensified pressure on undocumented foreign nationals to return to their homes. Enditem
