ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia on Sunday marked World Blood Donor Day, which falls on June 14 annually, paying tribute to voluntary, unpaid blood donors.
To commemorate the occasion, the National Center for Transfusion Medicine (NCTM) organized a ceremony honoring voluntary blood donors and employees of organizations that actively support blood donation activities. COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka plans to allocate 2 trillion rupees (about 6.6 billion U.S. dollars) for capital expenditure in the 2027 budget, Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said on Saturday.
The government has allocated about 1.35 trillion rupees for capital spending this year, Jayatissa said at the launch of road development work in Kalutara district under the Integrated Road Investment Program, known as iRoad. (Sri Lanka-Economy)

ISLAMABAD -- At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured in separate incidents caused by heavy rain and strong winds in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province over the past 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

TOKYO -- Two U.S. servicemen stationed in Japan's southernmost prefecture of Okinawa were arrested by local police on Sunday on suspicion of assault and trespassing, respectively, following the arrests of two other U.S. service members in the previous day for alleged drunk driving, local media reported.
According to Kyodo News, one serviceman allegedly assaulted a man at a restaurant in the prefecture in the early hours of Sunday, leaving the victim with head injuries, while another allegedly entered an apartment building without a legitimate reason later that morning.
