ULAN BATOR, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Three men drowned in the Tuul River in Mongolia's capital in a single day, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported on Wednesday.
According to the NEMA, the water-related accidents occurred in different sections of the Tuul River on Tuesday. The Tuul River is approximately 883 km long and flows through the southern part of Ulan Bator.
The NEMA stated that the leading causes of fatal water accidents include negligence, leaving young children unsupervised, and swimming or entering rivers while under the influence of alcohol. As the summer travel and recreation season begins, the agency urged the public to exercise caution and take preventive measures to avoid potential accidents.
Over the past five years, Mongolia, which has a population of 3.5 million, has recorded 537 water-related accidents, resulting in 464 deaths. Enditem
