JAKARTA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Bank Indonesia (BI) on Thursday raised its benchmark interest rate, the BI-Rate, by 25 basis points to 5.75 percent, as the central bank continued efforts to maintain rupiah stability.
The decision was made during BI's Board of Governors Meeting, with the central bank also adjusting other policy rates. BI raised the deposit facility rate to 4.75 percent and the lending facility rate to 6.5 percent.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the interest rate increase was aimed at supporting currency stability and controlling inflation expectations, adding that the policy was consistent with efforts to maintain rupiah stability.
The central bank reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining monetary stability while supporting Indonesia's economic resilience. Enditem
