KABUL, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's air force carried out overnight strikes against several hideouts used by the Islamic State (IS) militants in neighboring Pakistan, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the targeted sites were located in Pakistan's Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces and were allegedly being used to plan and coordinate attacks against Afghanistan.

The ministry said that all pre-designated targets were successfully hit.

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will not tolerate any threat to the country's security and stability," the statement said, pledging to utilize all available capabilities to counter and eliminate security threats. Enditem
