JAKARTA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's meteorology agency on Friday warned of waves of up to 2.5 meters in parts of Southeast Sulawesi province's waters through Monday, urging fishermen and maritime transport operators to remain vigilant.
The warning was issued by the Kendari Maritime Meteorological Station under the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, or BMKG, which forecast waves of 1.25 to 2.5 meters in several coastal and offshore areas.
The affected areas are expected to cover waters around the southern Flores Sea, the western Bone Gulf, and the eastern Banda Sea.
The BMKG urged fishermen, maritime transport operators, and coastal communities to monitor official weather updates and exercise caution at sea during the warning period. Enditem
