NAIROBI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Chamber Business Academy (CBA), a division of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council (CAETPC) to accelerate the growth of a market-oriented mushroom value chain.
The partnership with the Chinese institution based in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, establishes a framework for technical cooperation, capacity building, and technology transfer to scale up a professional, commercial mushroom value chain across Kenya and the East African region, the KNCCI said in a statement issued on Friday in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.
KNCCI President Erick Rutto emphasized that the initiative will drive small and medium enterprise development, enhance food security, and create agribusiness jobs by equipping local producers with modern production technologies and vital market intelligence.
According to the statement, the CBA will spearhead all local capacity-building initiatives, while the CAETPC will deliver Chinese agricultural experts, modern equipment, and business-matching opportunities with Chinese investment partners.
"In immediate execution of this MoU, the KNCCI, through the CBA, will launch an intensive, one-week professional training course on mushroom farming starting next week," it said. Enditem
