JAKARTA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's state electricity company PLN said Monday that coal supplies for its power plants are improving and the Java electricity system is gradually recovering after rolling blackouts hit parts of the island last week.

PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo said coal meeting the specifications required by the company's power plants is being distributed smoothly, while efforts to restore and strengthen the Java power system are progressing.

He apologized for the disruptions, which were triggered by technical problems at two coal-fired power plants operated by independent power producers, causing them to disconnect from the Java electricity system.

Darmawan said one of the affected plants has been reconnected to the Java grid since Sunday, helping improve system reliability. "As a result, the rolling blackouts that occurred last week have been minimized," he said. Enditem
