YANGON, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 1.51 tons of ICE (methamphetamine) and 6.15 million stimulant tablets in the southern Bago region, state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a 22-wheeler truck in Waw township, Bago region, on June 9, confiscating the drugs and arresting two suspects, the report said.
Investigations showed that the narcotics had been transported from Pyinmana township of Nay Pyi Taw and were destined for Hpa-an township of Kayin state for distribution, it said.
The person who arranged the transportation of the drugs remains at large, it added.
Legal action has been taken against the detained suspects under existing laws. According to police sources, efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the drug trafficking network. Enditem
