ABU DHABI/CAIRO -- U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday no country could impose tolls on ships using the Strait of Hormuz, as he began a visit to Gulf allies following recent "encouraging progress" in U.S.-Iran talks held in Switzerland, local media reported.
"It's an international waterway. No country is allowed to charge tolls or fees on an international waterway. That's existing international law," Rubio told reporters upon arrival in Abu Dhabi. (UAE-U.S.-Iran)

DAKAR -- The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said on Tuesday that it is strengthening preparedness and prevention measures to reduce the risk of Ebola virus disease being imported into West Africa.
"Even though the risk assessment shows that West Africa remains relatively spared at this stage, we must remain vigilant," said Mamadou Diarrassouba, executive director of the ECOWAS Regional Center for Surveillance and Disease Control, at the opening of a meeting of experts on Ebola preparedness and response strategies in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
