MIAMI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Vinicius Junior as "one of the best players in the world" after the forward scored twice in Brazil's 3-0 victory over Scotland on Wednesday, continuing his impressive run at the World Cup.
The 25-year-old struck both goals in the first half as Brazil secured top spot in Group C and advanced to the knockout stage.
Ancelotti, who worked closely with Vinicius during four successful seasons at Real Madrid, said he never doubted the winger's ability to perform on football's biggest stage.
"I had no doubts about how he would arrive at this World Cup," Ancelotti said. "For him, representing Brazil is an honor. He is playing very well, and he even scored with a header, which doesn't happen often."
The Italian coach added that Vinicius' current form comes as no surprise.
"I know exactly what Vini is capable of. He is one of the best players in the world," he said.
Vinicius has now scored four goals in three matches at the tournament. He opened his account in Brazil's 1-1 draw with Morocco before finding the net again in a 3-0 win over Haiti.
His latest brace moved him level with France forward Kylian Mbappe and Norway striker Erling Haaland in the World Cup Golden Boot race. The trio trails Argentina captain Lionel Messi by one goal. Enditem
