AMMAN, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Thursday dispatched its ninth humanitarian aid convoy to Lebanon as part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities and address humanitarian needs in the country.
The convoy, organized by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) in cooperation with the Jordanian Armed Forces, the foreign ministry, the World Food Programme and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, consists of 20 aid trucks.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said the dispatch of the convoy reflects Jordan's commitment to standing alongside the Lebanese people under various circumstances.
He noted that the organization continues to coordinate with local and international partners to ensure aid reaches beneficiaries in accordance with needs on the ground, while expressing appreciation to the Syrian authorities for facilitating the passage of the convoy and of previous humanitarian convoys sent to Lebanon in recent weeks.
