MANAMA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with visiting U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
The meeting reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various domains, particularly in the economic and defense sectors, the Bahrain News Agency reported.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and efforts to achieve security and stability, it reported.
They stressed the importance of compliance with the memorandum of understanding signed last week between the United States and Iran, it added.
The meeting was held during Rubio's visit to Bahrain to attend the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the United States.
Rubio's Bahrain visit is part of a three-day regional tour running from Tuesday to Thursday, which also includes the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Enditem
