MANILA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine Senate Impeachment Court concluded its pre-trial conference for the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, and the impeachment trial proper will commence on July 6, according to the Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau on Thursday.
The conference, with five working sessions from June 18 to 25, focused mainly on the preliminary marking and evaluation of documentary evidence from the House prosecution panel and Sara's defense team. Both parties also discussed procedural matters, stipulations of fact and other issues to streamline the trial process.
The pre-trial conference serves as the initial gathering of both parties before the senator-judges formally convene next month as an impeachment court to hear the case against the vice president.
