DOHA, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Interior Ministry said on Sunday that a Qatari citizen died and another person of Arab nationality was injured after a missing vessel was located following overnight search operations.
The vessel, carrying two people, failed to return at its scheduled time during routine monitoring conducted by the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, according to a ministry statement.
Maritime patrols immediately launched search operations on Saturday evening, and the Maritime Search and Rescue Team located the vessel in the early hours of Sunday, it said.
Search operations confirmed that the Qatari citizen had died from shrapnel injuries sustained during military operations in the area.
The other individual aboard was also injured and transferred to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition, the statement added.
The ministry said that investigations are ongoing in accordance with established legal procedures. Enditem
