BEIJING -- China and the European Union (EU) have confirmed the official establishment of China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism as the two sides held the first meeting of the mechanism, according to a joint statement issued on Tuesday.
The two sides identified four initial workstreams under the mechanism, which include trade and investment balancing, export controls, intellectual property rights and WTO reform, the joint statement said. (China-EU-Trade)

CARACAS -- The death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday has risen to 1,719, with more than 5,000 people injured, Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said Monday.

KABUL/ISLAMABAD -- Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on X early Monday that eastern areas of Afghanistan bordering Pakistan had come under Pakistani airstrikes the previous night, resulting in casualties.
According to Mujahid, the Pakistani military carried out airstrikes on Gayan District in Paktika Province, Tsamkani District in Paktia Province, and Manogai District in Kunar Province. (Afghanistan-Pakistan-Airstrikes)

TEHRAN -- A delegation comprising Iranian experts will visit Qatar this week to pursue the release of Iran's frozen assets, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday.
