JAKARTA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's oil and gas imports surged 70.78 percent year on year to 4.51 billion U.S. dollars in May 2026, according to data released by the country's statistics agency on Wednesday.
Ateng Hartono, deputy for distribution and services statistics at Statistics Indonesia, said during a press conference that the value of oil and gas imports in May was up from 2.64 billion dollars recorded in the same month last year.
During the January-May period, Indonesia's cumulative oil and gas imports totaled 17.45 billion dollars, marking an increase of 27.89 percent from 13.64 billion dollars recorded in the corresponding period of 2025, Hartono said.
Hartono said Singapore remained Indonesia's largest source of oil and gas imports during the first five months of 2026. Enditem
