SAO PAULO, July 1 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and one person went missing after a small boat sank in the Urubu River in Brazil's northern Amazonas state, authorities said Wednesday.

The Amazonas Fire Department resumed the search for Wilson Brito da Silva, 70, who disappeared after Tuesday's accident involving a boat carrying four people in the municipality of Silves about 320 km from Manaus, the Amazonas state capital.

Firefighters recovered the two bodies from the Urubu River on Tuesday night, which is part of the Amazon River basin.

The fourth person on the boat survived the accident and swam for about two hours before reaching a tree, where he managed to call for help and alert rescue teams, according to information shared by firefighters. Enditem
