TEHRAN -- Huge crowds from across Iran on Monday filled the streets of Tehran for the funeral procession of the country's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a U.S.-Israeli strike in late February.

The procession, held following two days of farewell ceremonies at Imam Khomeini's Mosalla prayer hall in central Tehran, was also attended by a large number of Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, Chairman of the Assembly of Experts Ahmad Jannati, Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council Sadeq Amoli Larijani and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, as well as cabinet ministers. GAZA -- The 15-member transitional Palestinian technocratic committee for administering the Gaza Strip on Monday voiced readiness to govern the enclave after Hamas announced the dissolution of its administrative body in Gaza.

The committee is "fully prepared" to assume its responsibilities "as soon as the necessary resources and capabilities are available," Ali Shaath, head of the committee, said in a statement on social media. (Gaza-Hamas Administrative Body-Dissolution)

KHARTOUM -- At least 330 children were killed or injured in Sudan during the first six months of 2026, with Darfur and Kordofan states recording the highest number of child casualties, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said Monday.

ALGIERS -- Algeria's ruling National Liberation Front (FLN) won the largest number of seats in the North African country's National People's Assembly (lower house of parliament), securing 90 seats in Thursday's parliamentary elections, according to provisional results announced Monday.

The National Democratic Rally came in second with 73 seats, followed by the Front of the Future with 59 seats, the Movement of Society for Peace with 43 seats, and the National Construction Movement with 38 seats, Karim Khalfan, acting head of the Independent National Electoral Authority, told a press conference in Algiers.
