BAGHDAD, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on Thursday announced that his government is working to establish an Iraqi-Turkish fund to finance joint investment and development projects.
A statement by his media office said that al-Zaidi met in Baghdad with Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar to discuss strengthening bilateral economic partnerships and expanding trade cooperation.
The Iraqi prime minister said that the proposed fund aims to accelerate the implementation of strategic projects and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, according to the statement.
During the meeting, al-Zaidi invited Turkish companies to expand their investments in Iraq's agricultural sector, stating that the government is moving forward with programs to develop livestock resources, enhance agricultural production, and strengthen production value chains.
For his part, Bayraktar affirmed Türkiye's readiness to forge broad strategic partnerships with Iraq across various sectors, particularly oil, natural gas, electricity, and regional connectivity, the statement said. Enditem
