Vasco appoints Pedro Emanuel as manager

RIO DE JANEIRO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Vasco da Gama has appointed Pedro Emanuel as its new manager, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Friday.

The 51-year-old signed a deal that runs until December 2027 and will be joined by assistant coaches Rui Gomes and Pedro Correia.

"The coach will begin working on Saturday to accompany the daily activities and will hold his first press conference on Monday," Vasco said in a statement.

Emanuel replaces Renato Gaucho, who was sacked last month after a poor run of results. His previous managerial experience includes spells at Coimbra, Estoril, Almeria, Al-Ain and Al-Nassr, among other clubs.

Four-time Brazilian champion Vasco is in a battle to avoid relegation, having secured 20 points from the first 18 games of the season. Enditem
