Malaysia, Thailand to strengthen agriculture, border security cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia and Thailand have pledged to deepen cooperation in a number of areas, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said following a series of meetings between the two as part of the latter's two-day working visit to Malaysia.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations and provides a comprehensive framework to deepen collaboration in agriculture, food security, research and innovation, capacity building and sustainable agricultural development for the mutual benefit of both countries, they said during the two-day bilateral meetings.

The leaders agreed to strengthen efforts in border management and cooperation in combating transnational organized crimes, including online scams, human trafficking, drug trafficking, as well as wildlife and timber trafficking.

They also noted the growing bilateral trade and investment, and pledged to enhance cooperation to achieve the bilateral annual trade target of 30 billion U.S. dollars by 2027. Enditem
