KUWAIT CITY, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait said Sunday that three northern land border posts were attacked, causing material damage, and a separate hostile drone strike hit an offshore oil rig, injuring one worker and causing material damage.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said on the social media platform X that the targeted rig is operated by the Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters.
It did not identify those responsible for the attacks.
The incidents coincided with a third round of U.S. strikes on targets in Iran, while Iranian media reported Iran's retaliatory attacks on U.S. military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Also on Sunday, Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority announced that passage through the Strait of Hormuz is not currently possible, citing recent "illegal movements" by U.S. forces in the region.
The latest developments came despite a peace memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran in mid-June. Enditem
