MANILA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will use artificial intelligence (AI) and satellite technology to improve agricultural data collection and strengthen the country's food security, according to local media reports on Monday.
According to the DA, improved data sharing between the two agencies will help policymakers make better decisions on food production, logistics and supply, while ensuring government resources are directed to areas where they are needed most.
The PSA has begun piloting the use of satellite imagery and AI to estimate crop production, while the DA is expected to support the initiative through field validation to improve data accuracy.
The DA said better agricultural and population data will help improve production forecasts, estimate future food demand, and enable faster government responses to issues affecting the country's food supply. Enditem
