JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Sultan B. Najamudin, speaker of the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia, said here on Wednesday that Chinese modernization has a positive impact on the modernization of Indonesia and other countries in the region.
Najamudin made the remarks at an open house day hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia. Under the theme "Chinese Modernization: The Answer of 105 Years of Endeavor," the event drew nearly 400 representatives from various sectors, including Ahmad Muzani, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia.
"I like the title of this open house: Chinese modernization. It is a modernization in the Chinese way. It is a form of socialist modernization tailored to China's values and conditions, rather than copying modernization models from elsewhere," he said.
"An important lesson that we have learned from Chinese modernization is that every nation has its own distinct history. It cannot be forced to imitate other nations' development models, nor be forced or dictated to apply a strategy that is not compatible with its own characteristics and policy heritage," Najamudin added.
Najamudin stressed that Indonesia regards China as a "trustworthy partner," with whom it will strive together for common prosperity well into the future.
For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong said that China is advancing Chinese modernization, while Indonesia is moving toward its Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.
Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Indonesia relations have maintained strong momentum, Wang said, noting that the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway has become a flagship project of bilateral cooperation.
The two countries have continued to achieve fruitful outcomes in such areas as infrastructure, industrial parks, the digital economy, green development, agriculture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, Wang said.
The Communist Party of China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with the Indonesian government and political parties, and to deepen dialogue on issues of common concern, including state governance, poverty reduction, social governance, and political party building, Wang said. Enditem
