KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition led by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) scored a decisive election victory late on Saturday, regaining control of Negeri Sembilan.
The coalition took 18 of 36 state assembly seats, giving it enough seats to form the state government, according to the election commission as of 12:30 a.m. local time.
Meanwhile, the other major contender, Pakatan Harapan, won 11 seats while Perikatan Nasional won seven seats.
The state election was triggered after the chief minister of the state, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, received consent from Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail to dissolve the state assembly on June 5. Enditem
