Russia says Japan's accelerated "remilitarization" undermines regional, global security

MOSCOW, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Japan's accelerated "remilitarization" is undermining regional and global security, a Russian foreign ministry official said Thursday.

Responding to a question at a regular press briefing, Alexey Fadeev, deputy director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Japan has continued to move away from the pacifist principles enshrined in its constitution and is attempting to abandon commitments such as its Three Non-Nuclear Principles.

On the occasion marking the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Russia hopes that the Japanese government will take history as a mirror, remember the lessons of history, and bear in mind that adhering to the path of peace is the only right way, Fadeev said. Enditem
