SOFIA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The new Bulgarian government, led by former President Rumen Radev, adopted on Wednesday the country's governance program for 2026-2030.
According to the 208-page document published on the government's website, the program's main goal is to build a modern, socially oriented, secure and high-tech European nation with sustainable institutions, a competitive economy and long-term development prospects.
It said the government will seek to improve the well-being of its citizens, protect the national interest and preserve Bulgaria as a strong, vibrant and prosperous nation-state for future generations.
The program aimed to shift Bulgaria from an outdated development model based on consumption, redistribution and cheap labor to one driven by investment, high productivity and an export-oriented, high-tech economy.
"The country's modernization is possible only through the simultaneous strengthening of state institutions, the restoration of public trust, and the fostering of a sense of shared national responsibility and solidarity," the program said.
The document also emphasized the need to systematically dismantle oligarchic and corrupt models of governance. It said governance should be based on professionalism, competence, integrity and equal rules for all.
The parliament elected Radev as prime minister and approved his government on May 8, after the Progressive Bulgaria coalition led by Radev won 131 seats in the 240-seat legislature at the snap parliamentary elections held on April 19. Enditem
