BUDAPEST, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- A Hungarian military fighter jet crashed near the central city of Szolnok on Monday morning, Prime Minister Peter Magyar said.
"For currently unknown reasons, one of the Hungarian Armed Forces' Gripen fighter jets crashed near Szolnok ... The pilot successfully ejected. An investigation is underway, and the defense minister is on his way to the scene," Magyar wrote on Facebook.
The prime minister later said that no one was injured and no civilian infrastructure was damaged, according to preliminary information.
Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi confirmed in a video posted on Facebook that the pilot was alive and in an ambulance, adding that no injuries had been reported.
He said the pilot appeared to have done everything possible to ensure that the aircraft came down within a military area.
