SINGAPORE, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The number of physical crime cases reported in Singapore slightly dropped in the first half of 2026, declining 0.4 percent to 10,287 cases from 10,325 cases in the same period a year earlier, data from the Singapore Police Force showed.
The top physical crimes of concern in the first half were outrage of modesty, shop theft and theft in dwelling, according to the Mid-Year Crime Brief 2026 released Monday.
Outrage of modesty cases rose 3.1 percent, or 23 cases, to 762 in the first half of 2026 from a year earlier. They accounted for about 7.4 percent of all physical crime cases.
Shop theft cases increased 2.2 percent, or 45 cases, to 2,095 compared with the same period last year, accounting for about 20.4 percent of total physical crime cases.
Theft in dwelling cases edged up 0.6 percent, or four cases, to 730 from a year earlier, making up about 7.1 percent of total physical crime cases.
Robbery and snatch theft remained low, with 12 and nine cases reported, respectively, during the period. Enditem
