VLADIVOSTOK, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia's Far East said Wednesday that a fire that broke out at the project on Tuesday had killed seven people, including six Chinese nationals, and injured 152 others, with nine Chinese nationals still missing.
The fire has been extinguished, and search and rescue operations are still underway. A military transport aircraft arrived at the site to transfer some of the injured to federal medical institutions.
A total of 152 people required medical assistance, including 36 who were hospitalized, the plant said in a statement on social media.
According to preliminary information, the project's main equipment was not damaged. Experts are investigating the cause of the fire.
The Chinese Consulate General in Khabarovsk confirmed that several Chinese nationals were among the casualties. A working group from the Consulate General has arrived at the site to handle follow-up matters. Enditem
