NEW DELHI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Suspected militants killed at least four persons and injured one in India's northeastern state of Manipur on Thursday, confirmed the local police.
Another person was allegedly missing after the ambush. Security forces took over the area after the killings. The assailants were yet to be identified.
An online report by Hindustan Times stated that while the victims belonged to the Naga community, the assailants were Kuki militants.
The killing indicated renewed tensions between the Naga and Kuki communities in the state, added the media report.
Manipur state had been facing ethnic strife between different communities since May 2023, which had so far claimed around 260 human lives. Besides, 60,000 people had been displaced from their homes. Enditem
