ALGIERS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived in Algiers late Monday for a visit focused on strengthening cooperation with Algeria in natural gas, green hydrogen, industrial projects and technology transfer, according to a statement from the Algerian presidency on Tuesday.

Wadephul was received Tuesday by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with both sides discussing ways to deepen bilateral relations and advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, said the statement.

He also held talks with Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines Mohamed Arkab on expanding energy sector collaboration, Algeria's Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines said in a statement.

The discussions focused on opportunities for German companies to provide expertise, technology and equipment for Algeria's oil, gas, petrochemical, engineering, and infrastructure projects, including seawater desalination.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in natural gas and liquefied natural gas marketing, low-carbon technologies, and the development, production, and marketing of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

For his part, Wadephul described Algeria as a reliable energy partner for Germany and expressed interest from German companies in strengthening their presence in the Algerian market and participating more actively in strategic projects. Enditem
