JAKARTA -- Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia's South Lampung regency continued erupting Saturday morning, with booming and rumbling sounds heard from a nearby volcano observation post, authorities said.
The eruption began at 11:07 p.m. local time Friday, with lava fountains observed between midnight and 6 a.m. Saturday. The volcano remains at Level III, or Alert status, with authorities imposing a three-kilometer exclusion zone around its active crater. (Indonesia-Volcano-Eruption)

TOKYO -- Japan's weather agency on Saturday issued a Level 5 emergency warning for landslides, its highest-level alert, for Yakushima Town in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, as Typhoon Krovanh and an autumn rain front combined to bring record-breaking rainfall to the region.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said it was highly likely that serious landslides had already occurred in the area and urged residents to remain on maximum vigilance and take immediate action to protect their lives. (Japan-Landslide)

MOSCOW/KIEV -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day halt to strikes against Kiev, a move linked to preparations for contacts with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.
