ALGIERS -- Algeria on Thursday announced its decision to sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after "exhausting all avenues" to preserve their ties, the Algeria Press Service (APS) reported.

Citing a foreign ministry statement, APS said Algeria had shown "great restraint and a high sense of responsibility" in response to what it described as increasingly "provocative or hostile actions" by the UAE. (Algeria-UAE-Diplomatic Ties)

ADEN, Yemen -- Yemen's Houthi group has deployed forces to the strategic Hanish Islands in the Red Sea following the withdrawal of government naval troops, a Yemeni government official told Xinhua Thursday.

"The naval forces withdrew (on Thursday afternoon), and the Houthis moved in," the official said on condition of anonymity, adding that Houthi forces had begun establishing positions on the islands. (Yemen-Houthi Group-Red Sea-Fighting)

JERUSALEM/BEIRUT -- Israel's military said on Thursday it had destroyed more than 2 km of underground Hezbollah infrastructure at the Ali al-Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon, after taking control of the area above and below ground.

The military said the network contained a command complex, weapons stores and living quarters, as well as dozens of Iranian-made rockets, missiles and drones, anti-tank missiles, mines and explosives. (Israel-Lebanon-Hezbollah)

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group said Thursday that international shipping through the Red Sea and the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait remained safe, seeking to ease concerns after its forces seized the strategic Red Sea port city of Mocha on Yemen's western coast.

Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the group's spokesperson, said in a statement posted on social media platform X that freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab remained "safe and regular," insisting that the group's operations posed "no threat" to international shipping.
