BISHKEK, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Given its status as a major trade and investment partner, cooperation with China is a foreign policy priority for Kyrgyzstan, said Erlist Akunbekov, deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Akunbekov made the remarks during a reception hosted on Tuesday by the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan in the capital Bishkek to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

He said that China is confidently moving along the path of modernization; strengthening its economic potential; expanding science, technology and innovation; and creating new sources of growth.

Akunbekov noted that the recent historic state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kyrgyzstan has injected momentum into the Kyrgyzstan-China comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.

During the visit, the two countries signed the treaty on permanent good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation as well as more than 30 cooperation documents covering economic, educational, cultural and other areas, marking an important step toward further strengthening bilateral relations, he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping recalled the country's development achievements over the 105 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the 77 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Under the leadership of the CPC, China is advancing Chinese modernization through its 15th Five-Year Plan, something that benefits all countries that participate through the Belt and Road Initiative, she said.

Liu stressed that the two sides will follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to promote the steady and sustained development of a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future. Enditem
