Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh discussed a political resolution to the unrest in Syria in a phone conversation Wednesday.
Yang said China had committed itself to pushing forward political means to solving the Syrian crisis.
Last week, China issued a six-point plan for a political resolution over the months-long crisis, he said, adding Chinese Foreign Ministry had made many visits to Syria and other involved countries in the region.
Chinese officials also urged all parties in Syria to end violence and hold dialogue, Yang said, adding they supported positive efforts by the international community to solve the Syrian problem in a political way.
He said the Chinese side would continue to play a constructive role in fairly, peacefully and appropriately resolving the Syrian issue.
Judeh said Jordan and other Arab nations attached great importance to China's six-point strategy, which had much in common with that of Arab countries.
The Syrian issue should be resolved in a political way, he said, adding that Jordan highly regarded the significant efforts made by China.
Judeh also voiced willingness to maintain communication and coordination with China on the Syrian crisis, saying that, as a sincere friend of the Arab world, China had always backed the Arab people's pursuit of justice.
On China-Jordan relations, the foreign minister said the two countries enjoyed a deep-rooted friendship, and Jordan was ready to expand cooperation with China in such areas as the economy and trade.
Yang said China was happy to see the sound development of the bilateral relationship and was ready to continue strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation with Jordan in various fields.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on the Palestine-Israel issue.
