Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin's visit to four European countries has strengthened traditional friendship and paved the way for a bright future, a Chinese official said Wednesday.

Jia, who is chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), wrapped up his visit to Romania, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia Wednesday.

During the flight home, Wang Shenghong, who has accompanied Jia and is deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, said Jia's visit has yielded positive results.

Wang said the visit was aimed at deepening China's traditional friendship with the four countries, boosting practical cooperation, and pushing China's ties with them to a new high.

During the visit, Jia respectively exchanged ideas with the four countries' leaders on bilateral ties and issues of common concern, reaching extensive consensuses, Wang added.

The visit has achieved five positive results, he said.

Firstly, it has strengthened China's traditional friendship with the countries, and boosted political mutual trust.

Jia put forward the suggestions of maintaining high-level visits, deepening trade and economic cooperation, promoting personnel and cultural exchanges, and strengthening cooperation between the CPPCC and the four countries' parliaments.

He also said China would like to work with the four countries to make bilateral friendly and cooperative ties develop comprehensively and deeply.
