Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in Bucharest with Romanian President Traian Basescu on bilateral relations and issues of common concern on Monday.
Jia, who is here for an official goodwill visit to Romania, and Basescu exchanged views on further development of China-Romania relations.
During the meeting, Jia made positive comments about the traditional friendship between China and Romania. He said since the two countries established diplomatic relations some 60 years ago, China-Romania friendship has become ever stronger in the process of time despite big changes in both international situation and conditions in the two countries.
He said in recent years the two sides have witnessed frequent high-level contact, ever deepening political trust, fruitful cooperation in all fields and mutual support and cooperation on international affairs.
Jia said China treasures the long-standing friendship with Romania. As the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic links next year, Jia hopes that the two sides will jointly turn a new page on the development of bilateral relations.
Jia also explained China's opinion on some major economic cooperative projects, discussion on the signing of agreement on cooperation for infrastructure development in Romania, labor contracts and trade unbalance between the two countries.
Basescu said the people of Romania and China enjoy deep friendship as bilateral relations develop in a healthy and smooth way.
