Green Exhibition to Be Held in Beijing
Adjust font size:

Government and business leaders from home and abroad will gather at the Beijing International Energy-Saving and Environmental Protection Exhibition in Beijing this weekend to display green products and share "green thoughts".

Highlighting feasible energy-saving technologies and clean production techniques and products, the four-day event, promoted as a flagship for Beijing's Energy-Saving Week, will kick off on Sunday.

Co-organized by the Beijing municipal government and the National Development and Reform Commission, the show is intended to give the public an up-close look at state-of-the-art energy-saving ideas and technology from across the world.

"It's not only a show. It is also intended to send an urgent signal to all communities and industries to be aware of the need to save energy and behave in an environmentally friendly manner," said Zhang Yanyou, commissioner of the Beijing municipal commission of development and reform.

He told a news briefing yesterday that the city was undergoing various changes aimed at reducing emissions so it can honor its pledge to hold a green Olympics.

The exhibition will occupy 16,000 sq m, divided into 12 display areas featuring different domestic and foreign environmental technologies and products.

Some 215 companies will attend, 171 of which will be Chinese.

GE, Philips, Panasonic, Epson, Honeywell, Toshiba and other top-500 companies will be showing off green products and energy-saving systems.

Zhang said a new eco-friendly home design would be presented and promoted at the fair.
