The China International Standard Book Number Center has published A Complete Library of Chinese Ethnic and Folk Arts and Crafts.

The 298-tome library includes all of China's ethnic and folk art genres, including ethnic and folk songs, dances, rhymes, musical instruments, local operas, folk tales, anecdotes and proverbs. It totals more than 450 million Chinese characters.

A digital version of the series has also been created by experts from the School of the Liberal Arts, Beijing Normal University.

In 1979, the Ministry of Culture and All-China Federation of Cultural and Literary Circles initiated a huge project to survey and rescue vanishing ethnic and folk arts.
