The launching ceremony of BTV's 2010 Spring Festival Global Gala, October 30, Beijing [chinanews.com.cn]

BTV is counting down to its Spring Festival Global Gala, which will hit TV screens on February 15, the second day of the new lunar year. The spectacular show is expected to feature art troupes from around the world, with performances of Spanish flamenco, Scottish bagpipes and the Argentinian tango, among others.

The gala will be hosted by Chinese-American entertainer David Wu, and will star Russian singer Vitas, American magician David Williams, Taiwan pop singer Kris Phillips (Fei Xiang) and Super Girl Jane Zhang Liangying.

Jackie Chan heads the list of stars TV viewers believe will perform at the gala, followed by Britney Spears, Beyonce and Dashan, or Mark Rowswell, a Canadian media celebrity in China.

Zhang Jigang, deputy director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games, has been named the show's artistic director.
