Lily Allen has urged people to take more care of the environment.

The 24-year-old singer believes it is essential for people to spend the next decade thinking of the impact their actions will have on the planet.

She said: "We all need to take a bit more responsibility for our carbon footprint. I'm trying but its hard."

However, the 'Not Fair' hitmaker may need to listen to her own advice after admitting she recently purchased a non-environmentally friendly car.

She said: "I've just bought a new Land Rover. It's a gas guzzler, but I spend a lot of time in the countryside near my dad, so I feel I need it."

The 'Smile' singer added that she only bought it so she could stay away from photographers and believes being able to live anonymously would be good for the planet.

She added to Q magazine: "I wanted something big and sturdy which elevated me off the ground a bit. I wanted to feel bigger than the paparazzi.

"So the next decade will be better if they f**king leave me alone and I can do the right thing and get on a bike."
