Pop queen Faye Wong is making a comeback with the theme song for director Hu Mei's biopic "Confucius."

The song "You Lan Cao" finished production on December 31 and is scheduled for global release on January 6, according to a report on Hua Shang Bao, or Chinese Business View.

It was a surprise for those who thought the singer would use the upcoming China Central Television spring festival gala to end her 5-year hiatus.

Her new song uses only 64 Chinese characters and is adapted from ancient poet Han Yu's eulogy on orchids that resonated with the iconic philosopher Confucius.

Faye Wong's soothing, ethereal voice was considered perfect for conveying the sublime and lofty spirit of the song.

The producer says the theme song will be available on the film's official website (http://kongzi.sina.com.cn/jian/index.html) starting at 9 am on January 7.
