Two fast-rising entertainers, Yang Zi and Huang Shengyi, are setting up their own movie production base. This week's ceremony was attended by industry veterans such as Hung Kam-Bo, Stanley Kwan, Peter Pau, Zhang Yang, Cui Baozhu, and Yang Chengang.

Chief executive Yang Zi showed his entertainer friends around the Juli Movie and TV Production Base.

On the walls of the conference room are photos of some major actors and singers of the Chinese speaking world.

Yang Zi says all of them have set up studios at the base.

Huang Shengyi is number two in the new business. She will have a say at determining the cast of all TV and movie productions financed by the company. Her annual salary is said to run to six figures.

The company is launching two productions, the movie "White Snake" and the TV series "Lord Guan."

Peter Pau, a leading photography director from Hong Kong, will supervise "White Snake."
