Established filmmaker Feng Xiaogang loves making comic cameo appearances in his own and other directors' films. But in old friend Jiang Wen's new production, "Let the Bullets Fly," he's got a bigger role, the Web site 163.com reports.

Wearing a Mohican hairstyle and round glasses, Feng plays a man who encounters many twists in his life, the report said.

Yet the role is meant to make the audience laugh, and Feng will mainly play against Ge You ("To Live") and Carina Lau ("2046").

The Chinese media likens "Let the Bullets Fly" to "Ocean's Eleven," as it features 11 leading Chinese actors, with Feng's participation rounding out the film's lineup.

Filming has finished this week and the release date is to be announced, hopefully in the latter half of this year.

Set in a remote town during the warring 1930s, "Let the Bullets Fly" tells a western Chinese legend.
