China's only entry in the main competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival, "Chongqing Blues", will be shown for domestic movie-goers starting June 8, the film's producers have announced.

The film, directed by Wang Xiaoshuai, is about a father who gradually realizes how much his frequent absences have influenced his adult son's life.

Cast members include Wang Xueqi, Fan Bingbing and Qin Hao, who promoted the film at the May 12-23 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France.

"Chongqing Blues" came back home empty-handed, while Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul's movie, "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives", snapped up the Cannes Golden Palm award for best film.

Wang Xiaoshuai's previous film, "In Love We Trust", won the Silver Bear for Best Script at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival. Another of his films, "Shanghai Dreams" was nominated for the Golden Palm at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
