"CJ7: The Cartoon" held a promotional press conference in Beijing on Tuesday. Stephen Chow, Xu Jiao, Cecilia Cheung and her son Lucas attended the event, Sina.com.cn reports.

Stephen Chow is the executive producer of the animated film, and Cecilia Cheung sang the theme song with her 3-year-old son Lucas Tse.

"CJ7: The Cartoon" tells a more thrilling story than "CJ7" (2008), starring Chow and Xu Jiao. The 2008 film made 202 million yuan (US$30 million) at the box office.

In "CJ7", Stephen Chow acts as a poor father who couldn't afford to buy his son Xiaodi (Xu Jiao) the popular toy CJ1. He found a weird thing which he calls CJ7 in the rubbish bin and gives it to Xiaodi as a toy. It turns out CJ7 is an alien.

In "CJ7: The Cartoon", the father of Xiaodi's classmate tries to steal CJ7's power and make a disaster happen.

"It's my first cartoon film and box office sales are very important to me. I hope more family audiences would come to watch the film," Chow said at the press conference.

"CJ7: The Cartoon" will open in China on July 9.
